A conservation and youth education nonprofit training future generations to create a more sustainable Hawai‘i is looking for applications for its new cohort focused on wildfire recovery and prevention.
Established in 2007, Kupu says it’s trained more than 5,700 youth and adults in conservation, sustainability, and environmental education. Community service projects include planting over 1.5 million native plants and removing over 151,000 acres of invasive species.
Kawika Riley of Kupu joined HNN’s Sunrise Weekends to talk about the Kupu ʻĀina Corps (KAC) program, which is seeking participants and host sites for a one-year initiative dedicated to wildfire recovery and resilience work on Maui and Hawai‘i Island.
