When Elisia Flores took the helm of L&L Hawaiian Barbecue, the move had been years in the making.
Flores had earned a bachelor’s degree in finance, then an MBA, and held leadership roles at General Electric before returning home to Hawaii in 2014 to join the plate lunch franchise, which her father, Eddie Flores Jr., founded in 1976. She started with the company as chief financial officer and became CEO in July 2019.
But just a few months later, the Covid-19 pandemic hit.
